Anaheim officials have prolonged the application deadline for the city's waitlist for rent assistance vouchers, often known as Section 8 vouchers.
Funding for an additional 300 vouchers has been secured from the federal Housing and Urban Development Department and will be administered by the Anaheim Housing Authority. The authority aims to rebuild its waitlist, which is used when vouchers become available.
After updating its waitlist and finding that many previous applicants had already secured housing, moved, or were no longer interested, the housing authority decided to accept 10,000 new applications last month. Originally, the deadline was April 6, but it has now been extended to April 14.
